Meet the CEO of ShineMine LLC. Capriel Phinney also known as Coach Cap. What is it that you do? How long have you been doing your craft? I’m a teeth whitening specialist and educator. I operate a Teeth Whitening studio and academy in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Today is August 14th 2022 which will make it 4 years since I’ve started offering teeth whitening and 2 years since Ive started teaching others how to start their very own teeth whitening business. How did you get started with your brand? In 2015 I started working at John A DMD as a orthodontist assistant. This is around the time that I fell in love with the dental field. I realized it was something I could see myself doing forever. However, 4 years undergrad 4 years dental school and 6 years sitting and studying under a dentist seemed to far fetch for an 18 yr old single mother. Not only did I feel I didn’t have the time and fight in me to finish schooling. I also realized that even though I loved working as an orthodontist assistant it wasn’t financially the best profession for me with not much room to move further in the field. I worked 2 other jobs outside of my dental job and all 3 kept me busy. Though money was needed I understood my time was important and decided I needed to figure out how to work less and make more. Job 2 was just a retail gig at Kay Jewelers, and job 3 was an administration job for my fathers business Opportunity Construction. While I was getting paid $16 hourly to manage the payroll I realized we were cutting checks for almost 3x the amount I was making. So you can probably guess what I did next. Gave my father a call and let him know it was time for me to change my job title. I picked up a hard hat and put down the diamonds, brackets, and timesheets that once we’re all my life consisted of. 7 years later and I still am outside holding a stop and slow. This job pays well yes! However, this position is seasonal so from about October - March I have all the time in the world to focus on me and my dreams. I stumbled across teeth gems and started offering these. Though they weren’t a big hit it sparked an idea in a friend of mines head and he made sure to have me look into teeth whitening. This service didn't hit our city before I found it so it took off immediately. I held onto it tight for 2 years before I decided that it’s blessed me and it was time to bless others with the same opportunity. Now I offer classes teaching a skillset that will change others outlook on making money forever. Have you ever made $125 in a hr doing 15 mins worth of work? Well I have and taught over 50 individuals how to do the same. What can we expect from you and your business in the future? Expect more locations! Reading PA and Chicago are next on my list. The last thing I’d like to add is that with god all things are possible and with a team everything is easier. To anyone aspiring to launch a business do it! There will be constant ups and downs learn to fall in love with the journey, I promise it’ll be well worth it. Every successful person has a story to tell and without the ups and downs it would be a boring one. Have faith in yourself and more importantly god and you’ll be surprised with what you accomplish.
